A year and a half through this pandemic and some of you may be realizing that working from home might be here long-term.
Build Boundaries
Working from home comes with its own unique set of distractions. Set a routine to follow that you and others around you respect. Set up work hours and do not work over those hours. Close your doors to deter children and pets from invading your workspace. Planners and phone alarms can be critical to getting a routine established.
Incorporate Plants
Did you know that looking at a plant for only 3 minutes can lower stress? Plants can also add color and fresh air to your workspace. There is a plant out there for every gardener! Try a pothos plant if you don’t have a green thumb.
Make a Home Office
If you don’t already have a home office, consider creating one. Transform a spare room into an office so you can be at your most productive. Buy a desk big enough to hold your computer, planner, sticky notes, and pens. Big books, binders, and any other notebooks can be stored on shelving units. Personalize your space with your favorite quotes, photos, or artwork. Remember to get quality lighting with natural windows, desk lamps, or floor lamps to keep your eyes from straining.
Declutter Your Space
When you are building your home office, you should first declutter and organize. Go through and get rid of anything that does not fit into your new home office. Desk organizers and filing cabinets can be helpful to keep necessary paperwork orderly but if you require a space to hide bigger items like furniture and home décor, try self storage. We offer free heating and cooling services year-round to help you transition to this new way of life. Find a storage unit near you!
