The New Year has come, but we want to take one last look at some of our events in 2022. Our Right Fit Storage teams support many events each year in their areas that give back to their communities. It has been fun and rewarding to help those who need it most in our neighborhoods. We’ve highlighted some events in the Greensboro and Durham areas from 2022 before we move on to 2023!
Welcome Baby Giving Closet
The Welcome Baby Resource Center assists new parents in Durham with resources to get their families started on a great path. Our team on Roxboro Street volunteered with one of their services, the Giving Closet. This closet distributes infant, toddler, children, and maternity clothing to those that need it. They also house baby equipment and accessories to help single moms maximize their parenting abilities. The Giving Closet and other Welcome Baby Resource Center offerings strengthen the children’s and their families’ future by providing practical and emotional support. We had a great time sorting through infant and toddler clothing to distribute to needy families.
MeaningFULL Food Drive Donation
Children get food during the school year thanks to services set in place. However, the summer months can make it hard for some children to eat. Backpack Beginnings and the United Way of Greater Greensboro joined forces to hold the MeaningFULL Meals Summer Food Drive to feed children in between the school months. We were excited to donate over 50 pounds of nutritious food to local Greensboro children before they went back to school. Efforts like these are essential to many in the Greensboro area.
Fill That Bus!
Did you know that, on average, teachers spend $750 out-of-pocket on classroom supplies annually? Because of this, Crayons2Calculators seeks to solve this issue with their Fill That Bus! Campaign. This community-wide event stocks teachers’ shelves with their most-needed classroom supplies. Our team got to donate to their efforts. By the close of the event, they could fill several orders of the most-needed school supplies.
Second Harvest Food Bank
In November, our Greensboro team at 4106 Spring Garden Street donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. Second Harvest is a food bank that makes an enormous positive impact on the community. Their warehouses move several tons of food every single day to local partners. Next, these partners distribute the food to community members who need it most, and Thanksgiving is when need usually picks up. We could sort food to be delivered to a family’s kitchen table by the holidays. Knowing we could help a family have a wonderful Thanksgiving was beautiful.
We are proud of everything we accomplished in 2022. Seeing our efforts help to make a positive impact is rewarding. We can’t wait to see what we will do in 2023! Which events do you want us to get involved in?
