Our team at 3447 North Roxboro Street in Durham, North Carolina, worked to support the Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas this month. They created Operation Backpack to fill the gap for the region’s most vulnerable children. Many of these children go without the supplies they need to do well throughout the school year. We helped them in their effort to supply over 2,000 homeless and underprivileged children with these materials. This year’s efforts were able to supply for those children and raise over $37,000.
Volunteers of America is a national non-profit that works to empire self-reliance and inspires hope. In 1896, the Chesapeake branch was one of the first to be created. In July of 2019, they merged with the Carolinas branch to form the Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas. This group covers Maryland, D.C., Eastern Virginia, and areas of North Carolina. They work to empower self-reliance and inspire hope among those in the community. They provide a range of services for a wide population, which includes Operation Backpack. This includes people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, disabilities, addictions, among other populations. Visit HERE to see how you can get involved.
