When teachers move into their classrooms, they are responsible for keeping them stocked fully. They come up with the funds for each whiteboard, calculator, and any other learning tool you can think of. The average teacher spends between $600 and $1000 of their own money on classroom supplies. According to the Public School Forum of North Carolina, NC teachers are currently spending 40% more than in previous years. Many communities provide services like a teacher supply warehouse to help teachers afford the classrooms of their dreams. These can be highly successful but are dependent on the community and their standing organizations.
Teacher Supply Warehouse
The Guilford Education Alliance (GEA) is an independent nonprofit dedicated to supporting quality public education for every student. The GEA provides a wide array of resources to keep Guilford County Schools among the Council of Great City Schools. Among these programs is the highly successful Teacher Supply Warehouse. The warehouse provides high-demand, everyday classroom supplies to Guilford County Schools Educators. Recently, the warehouse serviced 2,465 shopping trips and offset the costs of getting the room ready for students.
They need gently used and new classroom supplies to fill the classroom stockpiles. Our Greensboro team on Spring Garden Street supports local children’s well-being and education system. Therefore, our team wanted to donate from their list of school supplies to help the efforts of the warehouse.
If you would like to contribute, they have a bunch of ways! They use an Amazon wish list to order off of, and they collect virtual donations for direct monetary contributions. If you prefer to have your drive, they also have materials and contacts to help your success. The GEA also has volunteer opportunities to keep the Teacher Supply Warehouse running smoothly. Visit their website for more details if you want to make a change in a child’s life.
