The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle services seven counties where more than 222,000 people reside that are food insecure. They distribute nearly 6 million pounds of food every year to these individuals. North Carolina is the 10th hungriest state in the nation, and the food shuttle believes this is unacceptable. They know that the solutions to the problem are found through building a strong community food system by promoting independence. This is why they fight for self-sufficiency at an individual level by offering education on culinary job skills, home gardening, and shopping and cooking healthfully on a budget.
We recognize the noble efforts that this food bank works for, and we wanted to help. So our 3447 N. Roxboro Street location in Durham, North Carolina, took a look at their most needed list and donated their own this month. They are currently holding a food drive, but there are plenty of other ways to contribute if you would like to. Individual, institutional, and legacy giving are great ways to put your money to a good cause. The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle also have volunteer opportunities if you would like to donate your time!
