The United Way’s Family Success Centers work to remove barriers to success by offering childcare and transportation. Not only this, but they also promote financial stability with long-term support and coaching. This is done by bringing together choice area nonprofits, businesses, and government sectors to service the entire family.
Since their creation in 2015, the United Way has opened two Family Success Center locations serving over 300 families, representing over 1,000 children and adults! The majority of these members are women who head single-parent households. These women often struggle with period poverty, which refers to inequities around menstruation. Moreover, these members need to be able to afford personal hygiene and period products monthly.
The United Way of Greater Greensboro started collecting female hygiene supplies for their family success centers to fill this gap. Our 4106 Spring Garden Street location in Greensboro, North Carolina, donated some of these items to aid their efforts. If you would like to contribute, then here is a list of their most needed items. Please top by the United Way office at 1500 Yanceyville Street by July 30, 2021, if you have any donations to make!
