After the past year, we know how vital social interaction is to living a happy life, and our seniors are no different. The Senior Resources of Guilford promotes the independent living of older adults in Guildford County.
Senior Resources of Guilford
Founded in 1977, this group opened up in partnership with the United Way of Greater Greensboro as a member agency. They serve their senior populations by advocating and providing supportive services that enhance Guilford County’s residents’ independence, health, and quality of life.
Currently, the Senior Resources of Guilford maintains twenty-one teams and programs supporting a wide range of senior citizens’ needs. For example, they have a Gay and Gray Program to support their LGBT population. Their Community Nutrition Program provides nutritious noontime meals for participating seniors. Their Geriatric Adult Mental Health Specialty Team trains staff on the long-term needs of seniors with mental illnesses and dementia. They even have a Foster Grandparents program that offers local youth the opportunity to connect with one of their residents to help them reach their full potential. With so many programs, there are plenty of ways to get involved!
If you want to help seniors feel connected, then consider letting them know via a handwritten card. Our team at 4106 Spring Garden Street in Greensboro, North Carolina, 27407 made handwritten cards. It is a great way to support the group’s efforts and let local seniors know they are being thought of. Moreover, these notes help to brighten their spirits and bring them some joy. If you have an artistic streak, then feel free to include a nice picture along with a card with a sweet note.
If this opportunity does not suit your fancy, then take a look at their other Volunteer Opportunities. There are plenty of opportunities that may fit your needs better!
