Durham’s Bull Moon Ride & Run will be two parts to accommodate social distancing measures. The virtual portion of the race runs from Saturday, August 1, to Sunday, August 16. This race includes a 5K Run, 6-mile bike ride, and 12-mile bike ride. The in-person race will be held on Saturday, August 16. This portion only consists of a 5K Run and will be dolled out to participants in 30-minute time slots between 7:30 and 10 AM to keep participants safe. If you are not a runner, there are other ways to participate by fundraising for Habitat for Humanity Durham.
This annual race is dedicated to supporting Habitat for Humanity Durham. This nonprofit aims to build new homes, rehab existing homes, repair older, owner-occupied homes that are in desperate need. Their work strengthened the community by providing low-income families with safe, decent, and affordable housing. Since 1985, Habitat for Humanity has built and sold more than 300 Durham homes, repaired more than 150 Durham homes, and provided funding for more than 200 international homes. To aid their efforts, there are many fundraising opportunities for this race, although it is not required. Find out more information on how to get involved on their site.
